Binary devices

A master according to AS‑Interface specification version V 3.0, Rev. 2 with master profiles M1, M3 or M4 is required to control the binary device.

A binary device has 4 digital inputs and 4 digital outputs and can be used for simple control tasks. It does not support extended addressing. Up to 31 drives can be integrated into an AS‑Interface network.

This device type offers the fastest cycle time due to the small number of possible devices.

The changeable extended ID1 code can be used to assign user-specific information (e.g. system part, drive ID, etc.) to the binary device. Values can be set for the extended ID1 code in the range 0x0 – 0xF. The default value is 0xF.
