Disconnecting the energy storage unit from the DC link

INFORMATION

If the idle state and output stage inhibit of all axes is ensured, the operating mode switches the connected device to FCB 51 (output stage inhibit) and opens the synchronization contactor (depending on the configuration level). The energy storage unit must now be disconnected manually using the load-break switch. The output xStorageConnected is set to "FALSE" and eStorageState signals "DISCONNECTED". The process is now complete.
If a braking resistor is installed and correctly parameterized (MDP92A only), the energy storage unit is discharged to a slightly lower voltage, if it has a high state of charge (storage voltage is close to the parameterized application limit in the device), before it is disconnected. This serves to ensure that the performed charge test can be carried out after a new synchronization and connection, even if the storage unit is almost fully charged. During discharging, xSyncActive remains "TRUE" to indicate to the user that the disconnect procedure is not yet complete.
Monitoring of connected axes when synchronizing and disconnecting the energy storage unit

To disconnect an energy storage unit from the DC link or the device, all connected axes must be at standstill and their output stages must be inhibited.

  • Axes that are not connected via MOVIKIT® software modules must be brought to standstill and their output stages must be inhibited before starting the operating mode. Monitoring by MOVIKIT® PowerMode and the DC Synchronization operating mode cannot be automated, and it is the responsibility of the programmer to ensure this. If only third-party axes are present, the function for monitoring the axes for standstill must be deactivated in MOVISUITE® using the parameter Deactivate automatic axis standstill monitoring (50100.27).
  • Axes operated via a MOVIKIT® software module of the "Motion" category must be connected to the power supply module using the "Energy coupling" function. Code generation in MOVISUITE® automatically links the axis to the corresponding software module. The xStandstill and xPowered bits are queried automatically. For more information on the procedure and settings, refer to Energy coupling.
Control
  • All connected axes are in an idle state and their output stages are inhibited.
  1. To select the DCSync operating mode, set the uiRequestedMode variable in the IN structure under ModeControl to the value "520" (DCSync).
  2. Set the xStart variable in the IN structure under DC synchronization to "TRUE" and the xSyncAndConnect variable to "FALSE".
    • When the energy storage unit is connected, it is disconnected from the DC link.
  • When all axes are in idle state, the operating mode switches the connected device to FCB 51 (output stage inhibit) and opens the synchronization contactors (depending on the configuration level). The storage unit can now be disconnected by the load-break switch without load on all poles.
  • If the energy storage unit is disconnected from the DC link, the xStorageConnected variable returns "FALSE".
  • The energy storage unit must now be disconnected manually from the DC link using the load-break switch.
Storage emergency disconnection

With certain fault responses, the energy storage unit is disconnected from the DC link immediately or with a time delay. For further information, refer to chapter Error Manager (ErrorManager). There is no check for standstill or output stage inhibit of the connected axes.
