Insulation resistance test of entire storage bundle

Required tools:

  • Measuring device for the insulation resistance test
  • Insulated single-core cable (e.g. H07V-K), cable ends with M8 and M10 forked cable lugs:
    • Cross section: ≥ 2.5 mm2
    • Length: approx. 1 m
  • Wrench SW 13
  • Wrench SW 17

Preparation:

  1. Disconnect the DC link connections from the storage bundle (DSK+ on the first module and DSK- on the last module installed).
  2. Unscrew all signal monitoring cables.
  3. Short-circuit the DSK storage bundle with the prepared insulated single-core cable (yellow cable between DSK+ on module 1 and DSK- on module 8).
  4. Perform the insulation resistance test properly and record the measurement result in Test protocol for service work on the ESS.
  5. Select the largest possible value of the test device used.
    • Test voltage = at least 500 VDC; ideally up to 2 kVDC

The insulation resistance test is considered as passed if a resistance value of ≥ 10 MOhm or no conductive connection is displayed at a test voltage of 500 V.

If you measured a measured value less than 10 MOhm during the insulation resistance test of the entire storage bundle, you must measure each module individually. In this case, skip the following steps 6 and 7. Only perform step 5 and then continue with chapter Insulation resistance test of a single DSK module.

End the insulation resistance test:

  1. Remove the short circuit between DSK+ on module 1 and DSK- on module 8 on the storage bundle (yellow cable).
  2. Establish the DC link connection on the storage bundle (between DSK+ on module 1 and DSK- on module 8). Observe the correct sequence of the cables and the tightening torques from the following table:
