Supply system requirements
Regenerative power supplies require a stable supply system with sufficient capacity. The following points are requirements for trouble-free regenerative operation and low supply system distortions.
- For the transformer, a ratio of apparent power in kVA/short-circuit voltage in % of at least 8 kVA/1% is assumed.
- The apparent power of the transformer to be installed must be at least 3 times the nominal apparent power of the installed devices.
- Each enabled unit must be provided with the corresponding transformer power.
- Inhibited units do not have to be taken into account for the transformer dimensioning.
- A transformer with a low short-circuit voltage Vsc also provides advantages for the dimensioning. Contact SEW-EURODRIVE.
- The cable cross sections must be adapted to the device power rather than to the expected mean power. With reduced cross sections and long supply cables, overvoltages for other devices in the supply system are to be expected.
