SEW‑EURODRIVE recommends the "extended storage" gear unit design for storage periods longer than 9 months. A VCI anti-corrosion agent (volatile corrosion inhibitors) is added to the lubricant of these gear units. Note that this VCI anti-corrosion agent is only effective within a temperature range of -25 °C to +50 °C. In addition, the flange contact surfaces and the shaft ends are coated with an anti-corrosion agent. As standard, the gear unit is equipped with OS1 surface protection for the "extended storage" option. On request, you can also order OS2, OS3 or OS4 instead of OS1.

The gear units come with the oil fill according to the specified mounting position (M1 – M6). To prevent the VCI anti-corrosion agent from evaporating, the gear units in "extended storage" design must remain tightly sealed until startup.

For W..0 SPIROPLAN^® right-angle gear units, the extended storage option is not available.

Long-term storage in combination with food-grade lubricants (NSF-H1) is not permitted.
