Exchange fieldbus controller via ECShell

The replacement algorithm described in chapter Exchange fieldbus controller via hardware button can also be started via the ECShell engineering software.

Proceed as follows to exchange a fieldbus controller:

  1. Remove the voltage supply from the fieldbus controller.
  2. Remove the connection cable from the fieldbus controller that you want to exchange.
  3. Remove the 2 retaining screws from the fieldbus controller.
  4. Install the new fieldbus controller using the 2 retaining screws.
  5. Connect the connection cable to the new fieldbus controller.
  6. Check all connections and switch the supply voltage back on.
  7. Start the ECShell engineering software.
  8. Perform a network scan in the network view by clicking the [Discover modules] button.
  9. Click the [Display network topology] button.
  10. Right-click the replaced module (default IP address: 192.168.10.21).
  11. Select the "Replace" function in the context menu.
  • The fieldbus controller has been successfully exchanged and the status LED flashes in green.
