IoT Suite operating mode

For optimal working in conjunction with the IoT Suite, the software offers the IoT Suite operating mode. Once activated, the IoT Suite operating mode immediately adapts the program configuration to the requirements of the IoT Suite as listed below.

The IoT Suite operating mode is activated via the "General" tab in the "Settings" menu. If a factory license is used, the IoT Suite operating mode is automatically active. Deactivating the IoT Suite operating mode does not undo the adjusted program configuration, but simply does not force it further. To reset the configuration, save the current settings before activating the IoT Suite operating mode. See also Data backup.

The IoT Suite operating mode adjusts the program configuration as follows:

  • Devices are automatically assigned the "Technical location" metadata according to the following template:
    • Prefix for technical location: Deactivated
    • Main part for technical location: Fieldbus name
    • Suffix for technical location: Signature of the device
  • Example: ProfinetName_SignatureName
  • The license hash is displayed and is identical in all SDC instances that were activated with the same license key.
  • The data backup to the default endpoint is set at the end of the day and cannot be deactivated.
  • All menus and tabs concerning OPC UA are hidden.
  • During device scanning, the addition of subcomponents is deactivated for all subcomponents by default. If the addition is still activated manually for subcomponents during the device scan, a note is displayed that subcomponents are not supported in the IoT Suite.
  • For endpoints, the option "Compress published data as ZIP archive" is activated. All telemetry and configuration data is thus saved as a signed ZIP archive. When using a factory license, the data is also encrypted.
  • In the settings, the option "Discard MOVI-B and MOVI-C scope container events if sample count is incomplete" activated.
  • In the settings, the "Hide" option is selected as "Action when application is closed".
  • In the settings, the option "Run software when Windows starts" is activated and the background mode is selected.
