Shuttle types/transfer shuttles
Mobile rail-guided solutions are used for defined work envelopes. The conditions of use and objectives of the application lead to various possible solutions. Depending on the warehouse concept, the required storage density and throughput rate, there are different possible solutions.
2-way shuttle (2D) | In a 2-way shuttle, the material to be conveyed is moved along an axis. The shuttle can be transported between the storage channels using a transfer unit. The transfer unit can be e.g. a forklift, storage/retrieval system, or a pallet transfer shuttle. |
4-way shuttle (4D) | In a 4-way shuttle, the material to be conveyed is moved along 2 axes. A transfer unit between the channels on the plane is not required. |
Hybrid solutions with z-axis and/or free-moving | In addition to the functions of the 2/4-way shuttle, this vehicle can:
|
Shuttle vehicle/transfer carriage (2D) with satellite | In a shuttle-based warehouse, a shuttle vehicle transports the satellite to the desired warehouse channel. The vehicle leaves the transfer shuttle and transports the material to be conveyed to/from the storage slot. A pallet transfer shuttle is used for various transports and is similar in design to a shuttle vehicle. |
