Connecting a distance encoder

For applications with a resolver as motor encoder, you can connect an additional distance encoder to connection X16. You can use the distance encoder in different ways:

  • for closing the position control within the device, e.g. to compensate for inaccuracies arising from the mechanical system
  • as additional position information in the fieldbus
  • This information can be used to perform application-specific calculations, e.g. for slip detection in shuttles.
  • to use the connection for an axis-independent position value, e.g. as speed/position monitoring for a feed

You can connect the following encoders:

  • EnDat 2.2 encoder (multi-turn absolute encoder)
  • SSI encoder
  • TTL encoder
