Material travel and path speed
To set the cut length for the processing operation, the path speed must be known. The path speed can be extended as follows:
- A slip-free encoder is mounted on the material web as closely as possible to the flying saw. This encoder is connected as an external encoder to the encoder card of the flying saw inverter. The speed and the material path are now determined using the incremental path information from the external encoder.
INFORMATION

The ratio between the "travel resolution of the motor encoder" and the "external encoder" must be less than 20:1 to determine the path speed and the material travel with sufficient accuracy.

- The path speed and the material path are determined via the incremental path information of the motor encoder on the drive of the material feed. For this purpose, the inverter of the material feed must be connected to the system bus of the inverter of the flying saw.
