Licensing

When starting the software for the first time, a licensing dialog window will appear automatically, which you can use to activate the license you have purchased. If you install the software via the Windows console, you can license the software directly during installation. You can activate a license at a later time and view the current licensing status of your software in the "Settings" menu under the License tab.

Alternatively, you can activate a 7-day trial period with full functionality to test the functions of the software. After the 7 days have elapsed, data entry is stopped automatically immediately.

The prices of the licenses can be requested from the Service or Sales departments of SEW‑EURODRIVE.

The following licenses are available.

INFORMATION

All licenses are based on the volume of data consumed. Not the data volume sent by the SDC is measured but the data volume retrieved from the devices.

Plant licenses

Plant licenses can only be used in conjunction with the IoT Suite. When using one of the plant licenses, the license is not tied to a computer. This means that the license can be used for any number of SDC installations. Initially, the required data volume is determined based on the configuration. The data consumed is then billed either once or annually and for a fixed MB/month price in each case.

To distribute the plant license, simply copy the license.json file exported when saving the SmartDataCollector configuration to the corresponding computers. See also Software configuration.

OEM licenses

When using an OEM license, the license is tied to one computer. A separate license must be purchased for each computer that uses the SDC. Depending on the selected OEM license, the data volume of this SDC installation is limited to a certain data volume per month.
