Introduction
Devices with integrated safety option support parallel operation of standard and safe communication via a bus system or network. Safe communication is possible via PROFIsafe, Safety over EtherCAT®, and CIP Safety™.
PROFIsafe communication is possible via PROFINET. To that end, the basic device with integrated safety option must be connected to a fail-safe controller (F-PLC) via PROFINET.
Safety over EtherCAT® communication is possible via EtherCAT®. To that end, the device with integrated safety option must be connected to a fail-safe controller (F‑PLC) via EtherCAT®/SBusPLUS.
CIP Safety™ communication is possible via EtherNet/IP™. To that end, the basic device with integrated safety option must be connected directly to a fail-safe controller (F-PLC) via EtherNet/IP™.
To control safety sub-functions and to evaluate the responses from the safety option via PROFIsafe, Safety over EtherCAT®, or CIP Safety™ take into account the assignment of the individual bits in the F‑process input/output data.
In the "System" profile variant, an additional 16 bit and a 32 bit process value are transferred. The safe speed, the safe position, and the SCA status can be transferred via the process values.
