DriveRadar® SmartDataCollector

Classification

Under its DriveRadar® trademark, SEW-EURODRIVE offers intelligent, scalable products and services along the entire life cycle of individual products, solutions, and complex systems. The objective of these products and services is to significantly increase the availability of individual products and/or systems. To achieve this goal, it is essential to record data from devices in order to derive valuable insights regarding the condition and diagnosis of machines and systems.

Functionality

The DriveRadar® SmartDataCollector software enables convenient access to the relevant information by automatically recording process and operating data from various SEW-EURODRIVE devices and forwarding this data to configured endpoints.

Overview of functions:

  • Automatic or manual acquisition of scope data and device parameter data from various SEW-EURODRIVE devices (e.g. inverters, MOVI-C® CONTROLLERs) or other devices in the field that have an OPC UA server.
  • Forwarding of recorded scope and device parameter data to configured endpoints
  • Simple connection of various IoT systems by providing different IoT uplink options (e.g. network URL, HTTPS transfer, cloud)
  • Devices are connected wirelessly or with cables via existing Ethernet-based network channels (e.g. PROFINET, Ethernet, etc.). This ensures the existing process sequence is not impaired, as it is not necessary to retrofit any hardware.

The following figure is a schematic view of the function of the software:

Technical requirements

The software can be run on process-related customer IT systems or edge units. Currently, the installation on Windows operating systems and the installation on the company's own EdgeProcessingPlatform operating system is supported. The EdgeProcessingPlatform serves as the platform for the DriveRadar® EdgeProcessingUnit, a hardware solution for comprehensive data processing and analysis at edge level. In general, only one instance of the software can be operated on a device at a time. When using the software via the EdgeProcessingPlatform on the DriveRadar® EdgeProcessingUnit, make sure to observe the specific explanations in the corresponding documentation.

The devices are connected to the DriveRadar® SmartDataCollector wirelessly or with cables via existing Ethernet-based network channels (e.g. PROFINET, Ethernet) without hardware retrofitting.

Real-time processing of the data depends on the technical requirements and therefore cannot be guaranteed. Influencing factors include:

  • Number, type, and topology of the devices used
  • Bandwidth and capacity utilization of the network connection
  • Number of configured parameters/scopes
  • Number of configured data containers
  • Set cycle time
