Security
The software supports both unsecured and secure connections with certificate-based client/server authentication.
To increase security, we recommend only using OPC UA servers with valid certificates and activated encryption. The client checks the server certificates when establishing a connection and rejects the connection for unknown certificates. These are saved for a review by an administrator and can be accepted manually. See also chapter Certificates.
It is possible to accept a root certificate in the software and use it to authenticate derived server certificates. This makes it much easier to manage certificates in systems because only one certificate has to be distributed across the different systems.
