Licensing
When you start the software for the first time, a dialog window for activating the purchased license opens automatically. If you install the software Via the Command Prompt, you can also license the software directly during installation. You can activate a license at a later time and view the current licensing status in the "Settings" menu under the License tab. The prices of the licenses can be requested from the Sales department of SEW‑EURODRIVE. A distinction is made between the following license types:
Trial license
7-day trial license for evaluating the software with full functionality with up to 500 axes. After the 7 days have passed, data acquisition is stopped immediately.
Stand-alone
License for individual use that is tied to the hardware (e.g. the computer). A separate license must therefore be purchased for each computer that uses the SDC. Active trial licenses are deactivated when a stand-alone license is activated.
The available stand-alone licenses differ in the number of monitored axes and can be combined. The maximum number of axes is 500. This includes all axes contained in activated containers. The device list may therefore contain more axes than the activated license allows. Subcomponents, options, and higher-level controllers are not counted as axes, while double axes are counted as 2 axes.
All telemetry and configuration data is transmitted unencrypted.

IoT Suite mode
Use of the SDC as a data collector for the IoT Suite (IoT Suite Collector). The collected data can be transmitted exclusively to the IoT Suite. The maximum number of axes is 500. All telemetry and configuration data is transmitted encrypted as a signed ZIP archive.
Dual mode
Use of the SDC as a data collector for the IoT Suite with the additional possibility of transmitting the data to another endpoint. The Dual mode is active when both a stand-alone license and the IoT Suite mode are activated. The number of monitored devices is limited to the number of devices of the stand-alone license. The telemetry and configuration data is transmitted to the IoT Suite default endpoint encrypted as a signed ZIP archive.
