Connecting or disconnecting plug connectors

CAUTION

Risk of injury from arcing during a high-energy discharge (between two conductive metals).
Minor injuries.
- Make sure control cabinets are kept closed unless electrical components are de-energized.
- Disconnect any energy storage units such as accumulators from the electronics. Observe the measures for shutdown of the products used.
- Switch off other voltage sources.
- Before switching on the product, make sure that the protective cover is in place over the connections.
- Ensure that the product is insulated as far as possible and that no conductive foreign bodies can penetrate.
To safely connect or disconnect plug connectors, perform the following steps depending on the supply concept.
Direct supply via a switched-mode power supply or MOVITRANS® contactless energy transfer system
- Disconnect all supply voltages.
- Check to ensure the connections are free of voltage by using suitable measuring equipment.
- You can now connect or disconnect the plug connectors.
Operation in conjunction with accumulators (only accumulators or accumulators in connection with another voltage source)
- Switch off all other voltage sources.
- Disconnect/connect the accumulator from/to the device. The application is operated with protective extra-low voltage.
Supply with capacitive storage unit such as the energy storage bundle EKV
- Discharge the storage bundle to a voltage lower than 20 V using suitable means.
- Check the reduced voltage by using suitable measuring equipment.
- You can now connect or disconnect the plug connectors.
