Operating principle
INFORMATION

The additional function inrush current limiter (InrushCurrentLimiter) is only permitted in applications without a grid connection or with a residual current circuit breaker (RCD) already installed on the line side.
To actively synchronize an energy storage unit, an energy source must already be available on the opposite side of the device of the supply unit. Otherwise, the voltage level cannot be adjusted to the energy storage unit. The additional function inrush current limiter (InrushCurrentLimiter) provides a passive connection option for a DC voltage source or an energy storage unit.
The supply unit is connected to the DC voltage source or the energy storage unit with low impedance via the additional function inrush current limiter (InrushCurrentLimiter). The resistor protects the supply unit from high balancing currents during connection. If the voltage level is adjusted, the resistor is bypassed and the energy source can be used as a supply. As long as the resistor is not bypassed, the source cannot be loaded for a longer period of time because the resistor is not designed for high continuous power.
The following example circuit shows a supply unit that connects an energy storage unit via the additional function inrush current limiter (InrushCurrentLimiter):
