Leakage currents
Earth-leakage currents ≥ 3.5 mA can occur during normal operation. In order to fulfill EN 61800-5-1, observe the following notes:
- The protective earth (PE) connection must meet the requirements for systems with high earth-leakage currents.
- This usually means
- installing a PE connection cable with a minimum cross section of 10 mm2 (copper conductor)
- or installing a second PE connection cable in parallel with the original PE connection.
- The second PE connection is not required according to DIN EN 61800-5-1, if the line connection is equipped with a plug connector for industrial applications (according to IEC 60309) and if the supply system cable has a diameter of
≥2.5 mm2.
