Operating principle

To measure additional AC consumers, a suitable measuring device for electrical power is required. This can be, for example, a power measuring terminal on a bus coupler. The PES software modules provide various terminal drivers for connection to the external PowerMonitor. The terminal drivers provide different measured values. However, the active electrical power consumption is evaluated centrally and is totaled by the PowerMonitor.

The SEW_PES_PowerMonitor library supports the following terminal drivers and measuring terminals for power measurement:

The terminal drivers provide corresponding input variables of the correct data type with which the respective terminals can be mapped directly in the SBUSplus connection. If the respective terminal does not already provide finished data, the terminal driver converts the measured input data of the terminal into the correct units.

The terminal drivers are available in a "_3Phase" and "_2Phase" variant. In this way, either single-phase or three-phase consumers can be measured.
