The software module implements the "flying saw" function via the "Automatic – cut length control " and "Automatic – cut mark control" operating modes. The basic cycle is identical in both operating modes. After the operating mode has been selected and the start signal switched on, the slave axis runs through the following steps cyclically:

  1. The slave axis waits for the synchronization event, which depends on the operating mode.
    • In the "Automatic – cut length control" operating mode, the synchronization event is the rising edge of the start signal during the first synchronization, and then the specified cut length is reached.
    • In the "Automatic – cut mark control" operating mode, the synchronization event is always the detection of the cut mark by the mark sensor.
  2. After the synchronization event, the slave axis synchronizes to the master within the specified synchronization distance.
  3. The "synchronous" message indicates that the slave axis is now moving synchronously with the master and that machining can take place.
  4. With the "positioning back" signal, the slave axis switches over to positioning to the start position on the fly. Reaching the start position is indicated by the "In position" signal.
